3rd Grade Investigates Oobleck!

Exactly what is oobleck? A solid? A liquid? Ask a Willows 3rd grader and you will find an answer since they have explored the properties of matter using oobleck, a colloid, in their science classes.

In one experiment, students used digital cameras to document various tests on oobleck. They wrote their observations on lab sheets and discussed the properties as a class. Students also created glitter slime! They investigated and documented the behavior and properties of glitter slime and compared it to oobleck.

While conducting various engaging, hands-on experiments students were developing these skills:
  • Team work
  • Collaborating
  • Utilizing the scientific process
  • Making reasonable predictions
  • Analyzing data
  • Making conclusions
