Congrats to The Willows Debate Team & Coach Steve Futterman
The Willows Debate Team recently competed in a Virtual Tournament with 13 teams competing from 5 schools. This virtual tournament was a great way to finish off an incredibly successful debate season. The Willows placed at every tournament this past year, and we had teams and speakers win dozens of awards along the way.
Congratulations to 8th grade student Naomi B. for claiming top speaker and to Naomi B. and 8th grade student Maddy E. for claiming first-place team. For Sweepstakes, The Willows placed first in overall wins.
Five debaters finished in the top 10 speakers: 1st place Naomi B., 3rd place Zachary G., 5th place Maddy E., 8th place Taegan F-C, and 10th place Henry K.
Our debate team debated for four rounds on both sides of the two topics:
The US Federal Government should eliminate private individual ownership of cars.
The government should track all US residents to monitor who has COVID-19.
Very special congratulations for our 8 debaters who competed:
Abe N-R (6th)
Zach G (8th)
Naomi B (8th)
Henry K (8th)
Finn W (7th)
Maddie E (8th)
