Beyond The Headlines: How Emotional Intelligence Deepens Media Literacy

Lily Davis, Willows Director of Programming & Brian Tousey, Willows Media Literacy Manager and Middle School Teacher

Can your children/students spot misinformation? Identify fake news? Recognize bias? Can you?

In this age of all-consuming media, artificial intelligence, and platform proliferation, it is crucial to help students recognize and manage their responses to online environments. Discover how to approach media literacy concepts using analysis to promote digital citizenship, discern between truth and disinformation, lateral reading, checking sources, recognizing bias and more.

The critical intersection between social emotional learning and media literacy will be explored, offering insights into how we can help children recognize and manage their responses to online environments and develop savvy, emotionally intelligent critical thinkers.

Media Literacy is not reserved for older students; it starts in the earliest grades when students first wonder why things are the way they are.

Join us for this deep dive into creating safe, emotionally intelligent digital citizens.
