We believe
We believe each child brings our community an extraordinary gift: a curious mind, ready to explore and eager to learn. Our mission is to grow that gift.

We are The Willows
The overall community and how welcoming everyone is... Everyone is always nice and always very kind to each other.
Maceo Meyers, 8th Grade Graduate
The community. The general feeling on campus. Everybody really genuinely cares about each other here. We're all very close. Over the years, since I've been here so long, it starts to feel like a second family.
Simone Meltzer, 8th Grade Graduate
Action is fundamental to learning. Deep learning occurs when children are active participants in the learning process. This philosophy is the foundation of our curriculum.
Lisa Rosenstein, Head of School
The Willows feels like home, The Willows feels like a safe place. Not just for these kids but for us as teachers. We feel supported, we feel acknowledged. We feel like we've been entrusted with this great gift of being able to walk these kids through whatever years of teaching that we're given. You can see it in all of these kids. They feel safe. They feel like they are in a place where they can stretch their boundaries, where they can take risk and take chances.
J.R. Liebert, Faculty
I love the community, the teachers. I love the school trips, just being with my classmates and having fun. Not even just about what we're learning on the trips. It's just being with my friends. It makes me happy.
Daylen Groce, 8th Grade Graduate
I could probably still name every one of my classmates and teachers by name. It was a very intimate experience where the teachers were able to give attention to everyone and the students were able to create strong lasting friendships.
Brycen Tremayne, Class of 2014, Stanford Graduate

As part of our 10 years of integration of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence RULER approach to social and emotional learning into the curriculum, classrooms, and culture of our school, our youngest students are introduced to the RULER tools and quickly become fluent in communicating their feelings using these tools. The mood meter, which is found in every classroom at The Willows, is a tool for developing greater self-awareness and awareness of others. RULER helps all our school learn to recognize emotions in ourselves and others.
