Technology
The Willows Community School understands that the world in which today’s children live requires them to be comfortable with and competent in the use of technology. We embrace this understanding and work to utilize the power of technology to enhance our instruction and the students’ curricular explorations. We use technology to address different learning styles and needs by integrating its use throughout the curriculum. Willows’ students learn to research, present, problem-solve, build things from scratch, compose music, and explore and test their ideas as they delve into their studies. Our technology curriculum is exciting, relevant, student-centered, and infused with the power of multimedia resources.
Our school-wide goals are to:
- Use technology as an integral resource to enhance curricula at all levels
- Extend student experiences to include the exploration and exchange of new ideas
- Teach the principles of research when using reference software and the Internet
- Direct and practice the proper use and etiquette of Internet and World Wide Web exploration
- Explore ways to prepare relevant, interactive, and stimulating, multi-sensory presentations
- Learn basic computer, word-processing, desktop publishing, and multimedia skills while becoming more comfortable and familiar with technology
- Gain understanding for the integral role of computers in everyday life as well as their use as a powerful tool for lifelong learning
- Attain a level of enthusiasm and experience technology as fun, useful, interactive, and exciting
