Philosophy

The Willows Community School recognizes the stages of development and learning styles of all children. We have a rich, supportive environment that allows a child to grow cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically. The teachings of John Dewey have convincingly concluded that children learn best when they are active participants in the learning process. This philosophy is the foundation of our curriculum. We strive to instill a lasting love of learning in our students. Our curriculum includes language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, library, visual art, music, drama and physical education. We provide students with the skills that will enable them to become independent learners, critical thinkers and responsible citizens.

Our intent is that students acquire the tools to become active, interested lifelong learners.
